Four New Schools for Melbourne's Inner City Families

13 October 2016

In May 2016 we reported that the School Provision Review for the Docklands Area had been released and that the State Minister for Education, the Hon. James Merlino, M.P. had written to many NMPS Parents implying that there was no new school needed in the Docklands and the immediate surrounding suburbs of North Melbourne, West Melbourne, Melbourne, Parkville and Flemington until 2031.

The Reports are at: http://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/programs/infrastructure/Pages/reviewdocklands.aspx

On 11 October 2015, the Minister announced four new schools including a new primary school at Docklands and North Melbourne and a new primary and secondary school at Fishermans Bend.

NMPS Parents welcome the announcement and thank all NMPS Parents and Carers for their assistance and support in helping to achieve this wonderful result. The Media Release is below:

The Media Release can be accessed at: http://www.premier.vic.gov.au/four-new-schools-for-melbournes-inner-city-families/

The Media Release indicates that inner city enrolment boundaries will also be changed so Docklands families will be able to send their children to The University High School.  The University High School is also stretched for capacity.  Further planning is needed to alleviate the student population pressures on The University High School despite the proposed secondary school at Fishermans Bend.
